Convoy, snow and meatballs
We left Ezkurra and went in search of the ATC route. After about 20 km we found it and then had cold feet, we were faced with a sharp muddy and rocky incline with a big drop on one side. Took us all at about 30 seconds to bottle it and look for an alternative. And what an alternative, wow! We came across a closed mountain pass which we promptly ignored it’s closed status and we’re rewarded for our wrongdoing by the most amazing 1772m climb into the clouds. While on the top and with a break in the clouds we took a photo opportunity of the scenery along with the random gate with no fencing either side and not appearing to hold anything in or anyone out of anywhere. This was followed followed by an Italian job esk decent down hairpin after hairpin.
Stopping for a coffee on the Spanish French boarder Williams impressed again with his language skills requesting the bill and some how ordering another two coffees.
The campsite was set up in Ansó and I think it is fair to say Edwards had a little bit of tent Envy as Williams rolled out the ‘Wingman of the road’ all in one motorcycle tent. Think portable Glamping crossed with pop up tent and well it’s nothing like that really.
A walk into the town got us the ingredients for tea a tin of meatballs, a tin of mushrooms a tin of tomatoes and some pasta. We also got some donuts whos main ingredient seemed to be cement dust as they had the ability to remove all saliva from your mouth.
Probably worth mentioning it was freezing that night but will leave that for the next post.
