Rain, slides, and the Far East

The plan for today was to head as far east as possible in Spain while trying to outrun the rain. Well we managed the first objective getting as far east as you can possibly ride on a bike in Spain, but fails on the second objective as we got pissed wet through. Where is fantastic switchback hairpins, That’s all so much fun in the dry become a little bit hairy in the wet with both edwards and Williams having the odd slide. Stopping along the side of a mountain road to make a brew was our first mistake as the rain caught up with us, still there something really nice about making your own brew at the side of the road. Edward spent 10 minutes trying to put on his waterproofs, and then another 15 minutes trying to sort his gloves, and then another 10 minutes after he remembered that he’d forgotten his earplugs. Definitely the faff king. Williams followed behind edwards done all the mountain roads probably a little bit too close now you cannot see the front of his bike for mud.

We entered the town of Figueres which is where thugs went a bit Pete Tong, Edwards had got stuck behind a few cards and despite us being still in contact on the intercom we managed to get split up. To say that this made Edwards a bit of a grumpy monkey would be a understatement and williams was glad that the intercoms went out of range to prevent damage to his delegate hearing from the profanity.

We made it to Cap de Crues the most easterly part of France. Had a coffee and took some photos and then headed off to our hotel for the night Hotel Gri-Mar on the coast near Llanca. We were allowed to lock our bikes in an underground garage and sat on the veranda for a well earned beer, then another and another followed by a bottle of red wine. Healthy!
