Plates, Ferry, Gears and Masks
Well we made it to Portsmouth and got on the ferry. As expected, Edwards was late leaving work but as Williams needed to fit the plates he had made to his bike it did not really matter. Panniers were removed to fit the plates as was the gigantic tent. Plates went on well and after a bagel and pork pie thanks to Mrs Edwards we hit the road at 3pm.
Fairly uneventful ride down with the highlight being Edward stalling 3 times at traffic lights when we reached Portsmouth before realising he was in 6th gear. Edwards is an advanced IAM rider apparently.
Ferry boarding was marred by the usual jobsworth telling us what lane to be in and making us wait behind a bloke trying to check in two black labs and not having much success.
We got told we could not get on the ferry without a mask which reminded us just how much we hate these things.
Time for a beer and a kip
